Suggested starting point

Quartz

Based on your answers, quartz is a strong starting point. Bring this to your showroom visit and we will show you options in person.

Where to use stone in your kitchen

Countertops & backsplashes, cut from the same slab

Using one material across your counters and backsplash keeps the whole kitchen reading as one design.

Countertops & islands

The working surface of your kitchen, sized and finished to fit your exact layout.

Perimeter countertops along cabinets, ranges, and sinks

Kitchen islands with seating overhangs and prep space

Waterfall edges that carry the stone down the side of the island

Bar tops and coffee stations to match the main kitchen

Backsplashes

A stone backsplash means fewer seams and no grout lines to scrub.

Standard backsplash running a few inches up the wall

Full-height backsplash running up to the cabinets or ceiling

Range wall feature to showcase a dramatic slab behind the cooktop

Vein matched layouts so the pattern flows from counter to wall

Integrated sinks

A sink made from your countertop

An integrated sink is custom-fabricated using individual pieces of stone that are precisely cut, assembled, and bonded together to create a seamless, cohesive appearance. Unlike a sink made from a solid block of stone, an integrated sink is constructed from multiple pieces of material, allowing the sink to beautifully complement the surrounding countertop.

While designed to appear seamless, subtle joints may be visible where the pieces are joined.

Common questions about kitchen countertops

Granite and quartz offer the widest range of budget-friendly options. Our stocking program also lets you buy quartz by the square foot and natural stone by the half slab, which can lower the cost of smaller kitchens.

Quartz is the most requested overall because it is low maintenance and comes in a huge range of colors. For natural stone, quartzite, especially Taj Mahal, is the slab our clients ask for most.

Quartzite, granite, and porcelain are among the most durable options for a busy kitchen. All three resist scratches and heat well.

Choose quartz if you want a consistent look with no sealing. Choose granite if you want a one of a kind natural pattern and strong heat resistance.

No. Quartzite is a natural stone cut from quarried slabs. Quartz is engineered from ground quartz and resin. They look different in person and are priced differently.

Granite, quartzite, soapstone, and porcelain handle heat well. With quartz, we recommend using a trivet because the resin can be damaged by direct high heat.

Granite, quartzite, and marble benefit from periodic sealing. Quartz, porcelain, and soapstone do not need sealing.

Yes. We can cut your backsplash from the same slab as your countertops, including full height backsplashes that run up to the cabinets or ceiling.

Cost depends on the material, square footage, edge profile, and sink or cooktop cutouts. We put together a quote after your consultation.
